S2S — Grading

The grading queue is your worklist of client written work awaiting evaluation — reflection essays (odd weeks) and practical applications (even weeks) submitted between sessions. Open a submission to read the work, score it against the rubric, and send the client feedback. This is the asynchronous counterpart to live, in-class Session Mode scoring.

Facilitators do not grade their own clients' coursework. This queue is worked by the grading / standby-facilitator team and auto-excludes your own clients. Standby graders can pick up another team's backlog (e.g. a graduation rush). Live participation scoring stays in Session Mode.

1. Share one thing you learned in this lesson.

I learned that accountability means owning the harm I caused without adding "but" to the end of the sentence. For a long time I told myself I was just reacting to how I was treated. This week I saw that the choice to escalate was always mine.

2. Explain how you understand the concept in your own words.

Taking responsibility is separating what happened to me from what I did. I can have feelings about a situation and still be the only person responsible for my actions. Blame keeps me stuck; ownership lets me change.

3. Describe a situation where this applied to you.

My ex texted something that set me off on Tuesday. Old me would have fired back a string of messages. I noticed my chest getting tight, put the phone face-down, and went for a walk before responding.

4. How could you have used this skill in the past?

During the argument that led to my case, I had at least three moments where I could have walked away. If I had named what I was feeling instead of acting on it, that night would have ended very differently.

5. Take a position: why does this concept matter for the people around you?

It matters because my kids are watching how I handle anger. If I model ownership instead of blame, they learn that being wrong isn't the end of the world — it's the start of doing better.
